Cannon Duke Appointed Head Baseball Coach at Halls High School

A Tennessee native returns to lead the Red Devils, bringing championship experience and a community‑first mindset

Cannon Duke has taken the reins of the Halls High School baseball program, succeeding Ryan Gentry after three seasons as head coach.

Duke arrives after four years as an assistant at Grace Christian Academy, where the Rams captured a third‑place finish in the 2025 TSSAA Division II‑A state tournament.

Rooted in Tennessee

A native of West Tennessee, Duke grew up in Decatur County and sees Halls as a familiar landscape, having played high school baseball at Decatur Riverside before continuing his career at Southwest Tennessee Community College and Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

His coaching philosophy centers on player development and community engagement, a stance that aligns with the school’s broader vision for its baseball program.

Duke hopes to build on the strong youth baseball infrastructure in the area and to keep top local talent at Halls, where he believes the Red Devils can continue to compete at a high level.

The Red Devils posted a 24‑win season in 2026, narrowly missing a state sectional berth, and Duke inherits a roster that will be anchored by shortstop and right‑hander Fisher Green for the 2027 campaign.

Athletics director Scott Cummings praised Duke’s reputation in the baseball community and his ability to develop players, stating that his leadership represents a natural next step for the program.
