Canyon Independent School District has announced the hiring of Clint Schnell as the new head coach of the Randall High School boys basketball program, marking the start of a fresh era for the team.
Schnell arrives after a 21‑year career in high school coaching and more than 26 years in education, having begun as a varsity assistant at Amarillo High School before leading programs at Coppell High School and Arlington Martin High School.
During his tenure he earned District Coach of the Year honors four times and was named a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Region I Finalist for the Don Coleman Outstanding Coach of the Year award, underscoring his impact on the court.
Building a Championship Culture
Athletic Director John Peterson emphasized that Schnell’s vision centers on creating a championship culture while developing young men both on the basketball court and in the classroom, a philosophy that aligns with the district’s broader educational goals.
Schnell holds a Master of Education Administration from Lamar University and completed a principal internship at Coppell High School, where he also served as an acting assistant principal, blending coaching expertise with administrative experience.
His passion for shaping character through basketball is matched by a dedication to academic excellence, positioning him to guide the Randall High program toward sustained success on and off the court.
