A Strategic Acquisition
Kansas City Men's Basketball has announced the addition of Carl Daughtery Jr., a 6‑foot‑3 guard who brings Division I experience and a knack for clutch shooting.
The Roos secured the former UC Davis standout after a standout season that saw him help the Aggies capture the Big West Championship with a 19‑14 record.
Daughtery averaged 10.0 points per game while shooting above 40 percent from both the field and the three‑point line, and he capped the year with a 24‑point performance in the championship win over UC Santa Barbara.
His collegiate résumé also includes a stint at Central Arkansas, where over two seasons he posted a 7.2‑point average and contributed to a 32‑game appearance in the 2024‑25 campaign.
Beyond the numbers, Daughtery’s upbringing in Arkansas adds a local flavor; he starred at Maumelle High School, surpassing 1,000 career points and earning all‑state honors.
The move also reunites him with his father, former collegiate player Carl Daughtery Sr., and his sister GeCara Daughtery, who have been supportive throughout his journey.
Coach Mark Turgeon, who has been guiding the Roos’ development, expressed confidence that Daughtery’s shooting prowess and competitive fire will bolster the team’s depth as they aim for a strong postseason.
The signing underscores Kansas City’s strategy of blending proven Division I talent with home‑grown resilience, a formula that could reshape the program’s trajectory in the coming years.
