Carol Moore, a cornerstone of Florida State University’s athletics department, announced that she will retire on July 10, bringing to a close a 41‑year career that includes 37 years working directly with the football program.
Moore began her FSU journey in 1985, shortly after graduating from Tallahassee State College, when she took a part‑time position with the Department of Highway Safety before moving into the university’s sports operations.
A career built on service and mentorship
Over the years she served under legendary coaches such as Bobby Bowden, Brad Scott and Mark Richt, and most recently worked as executive assistant and office manager to head coach Mike Norvell, a relationship she describes as transformative.
Colleagues and former players credit Moore with shaping the program’s culture, from coordinating recruiting visits to guiding student‑athlete academic services within the university.
A final farewell and the road ahead
Her last day in the office was bittersweet; friends, family and longtime coworkers gathered to say goodbye, and she admitted that the reality of retirement will truly set in when football practice resumes in July.
Moore will use her remaining vacation days before her official departure and plans to embrace whatever comes next, confident that the relationships she forged will endure beyond her tenure.
Legacy and future impact
Having advised the Garnet and Gold Guides and collaborated with figures such as defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews, Andy Urbanic and Dr. Greg Beaumont, Moore leaves a legacy of dedication and mentorship that will continue to influence Florida State athletics for years to come.
