The Carolina Hurricanes have added forward Stiven Sardarian to their roster, acquiring the player from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for future considerations. The move immediately sends Sardarian to the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves, where he will continue his development under the Wolves’ coaching staff.
A Fresh Face in the AHL
Sardarian’s journey to the professional ranks began in the 2021 NHL Draft, when the Sabres selected him in the third round, 88th overall. Since then, he has honed his game at the collegiate level, most recently starring for Michigan Technological University during the 2025‑26 season.
During that campaign he posted 44 points — 12 goals and 32 assists — across 37 games, a performance that earned him the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s Forward of the Year honor and a spot on the league’s First All‑Star Team. He also topped the CCHA in both assists and points, underscoring his offensive impact.
His offensive output extends beyond a single season. Over his NCAA career he accumulated 100 points (32 goals, 68 assists) in 133 appearances for both the University of New Hampshire and Michigan Tech. Prior to college, Sardarian contributed 25 points (8 goals, 17 assists) in 46 USHL games with the Youngstown Phantoms during the 2021‑22 season, and he logged nine goals and 21 assists in 50 outings for Krasnaya Armiya Moskva in the MHL during 2020‑21.
Eric Tulsky, the Hurricanes’ director of hockey operations, praised the addition, noting that Sardarian’s blend of size, skill, and international experience aligns with the team’s long‑term vision. “Stiven brings a competitive edge and a proven track record at the highest levels of amateur play,” Tulsky said in a statement.
The organization looks forward to seeing how the forward adapts to the AHL’s pace and physicality. With a strong work ethic and a history of delivering in clutch moments, Sardarian is expected to contribute offensively and help shape the Wolves’ attack as the new season approaches.
