Carrie Maxwell Joins High Point Women’s Soccer Staff as Assistant Coach and Nutrition Specialist

Former professional player brings championship pedigree and performance expertise to the Panthers

A New Era for Panther Women's Soccer

High Point University has named Carrie Maxwell as its new assistant coach and nutrition specialist for the women's soccer program, a move that blends elite playing experience with cutting‑edge performance science.

Maxwell arrives after a distinguished coaching stint at Lenoir‑Rhyne University, where she guided the Bears to a Southeast Regional Championship and a historic NCAA Division II Final Four appearance, a run that culminated in a No. 13 national ranking.

During her tenure, the team posted a 9‑1‑1 record in her debut season and produced a 13‑ranking that underscored her ability to elevate programs quickly.

Her coaching résumé also includes a period with the Charlotte Eagles of the Women’s Premier Soccer League, where she helped the club capture the conference title and reach the Regional Final of the National WPSL Tournament in 2019.

Maxwell spent nine years with the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program, honing talent across the country and building a foundation for future stars.

Prior to her coaching career, she excelled as a midfielder for the Charlotte 49ers, scoring 11 goals in four seasons, and later played professionally in Sweden with Tierps IF before returning to the United States to compete for the Carolina Rapids and Charlotte Eagles in the WPSL.

From Player to Performance Coach

Beyond the pitch, Maxwell founded Maxwell Performance LLC in 2022, a venture dedicated to athlete development through performance training, recovery protocols, and nutrition planning.

She holds certifications as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Sports Nutrition Coach, is a 500‑hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher, and possesses a USSF C License while pursuing her USSF B License.

University athletic director Dr. Melissa Carter praised Maxwell’s holistic approach, stating that her expertise will ‘enhance player health, resilience, and tactical acuity’ and help the Panthers compete at the highest level of Division I soccer.

The addition of a nutrition specialist reflects a growing trend in collegiate programs to integrate science‑based recovery and fueling strategies into daily routines, a shift that Maxwell is poised to lead.

Fans can expect a seamless transition as Maxwell begins her duties ahead of the upcoming season, bringing a blend of championship pedigree and performance innovation to the High Point women's soccer program.
