NASCAR driver Carson Ware is joining forces with Youth and Shelter Services (YSS) for a new opioid‑prevention campaign that will run alongside the HyVee Perks 250 at Iowa Speedway.
Ware, who has spoken openly about his own battle with addiction and a near‑fatal overdose, says he wants to leverage his racing platform to shine a light on a crisis that touches many Iowa families.
The initiative, branded “Before it Becomes More,” will feature a traveling interactive exhibit that tours the state, offering visitors a hands‑on look at the warning signs of substance misuse and practical steps for prevention. Ware is slated to visit YSS’s Ember Recovery facility, where he will meet with young people in recovery and share his story.
A Personal Mission on the Track
Beyond the race weekend, the campaign will be woven into the No. 47 Chevrolet’s visual identity, with social‑media posts, community‑outreach events and educational materials amplifying the message. YSS hopes the combined effort will chip away at the stigma that often keeps Iowans from seeking help before addiction takes hold.
Rick Ware, team owner, and Aaron Blass, a longtime collaborator, are also listed among the project’s key figures, underscoring the multi‑generational commitment to the cause.
