Carter Beck, an outfielder from Indiana State, was recently named to the College Sports Communicators 2026 Academic All-America First Team, a distinction that underscores his dual commitment to academic rigor and athletic excellence.
The junior majors in Finance and maintains a 3.96 cumulative GPA, a testament to his disciplined approach to both scholarship and sport. His academic standing places him among the top tier of student‑athletes recognized by the organization.
A Season of Record‑Breaking Performances
During the 2026 campaign, Beck led the Missouri Valley Conference in several key offensive metrics, including a batting average of .348, 82 hits and 59 runs batted in. He also logged a team‑high 28 multi‑hit games and 16 contests with multiple RBIs, highlighting his consistency at the plate.
One of the season’s most memorable stretches came over an 11‑game stretch where he posted a .510 batting average and drove in 16 runs, punctuated by grand slams against Miami (Ohio), Bradley and UIC. These performances contributed to his selection as the 2026 Joe Carter MVC Baseball Player of the Year.
Beck’s achievement marks the first time a Sycamore has earned Academic All‑America honors since Max Wright in 2019, a milestone that reflects both his personal excellence and the growing prominence of Indiana State’s baseball program.
The recognition also placed Beck alongside other conference standouts who were named Academic All‑America Team Members of the Year, including Noah Sullivan, Dagen Brewer, Bryan Carney and Alex Johnson, further emphasizing the conference’s blend of scholarly and athletic talent.
