The Casa Grande High School football team is poised for a breakthrough as it prepares for the upcoming season, hoping to capture its first playoff victory since 2019.
A Renewed Roster
A deep senior class, bolstered by 25 seniors, 30 juniors and six sophomores, gives the program unprecedented depth, while the coaching staff has emphasized strength and conditioning that many describe as the best in recent memory.
Among the notable returners, Rylo Wyre, the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year last season, will anchor the defense alongside junior Chris Kircher, while senior quarterback Nate Lukins brings a strong arm that opens up the offense.
The receiving corps features Logan Urton, who amassed 309 yards and three touchdowns a year ago, along with Max Comma and sophomore Levi Lyons, providing multiple threats downfield.
Defensively, the line will be anchored by junior Colt Cilia and sophomore Hudson Sutter, while senior linebacker Rylo Wyre and junior Chris Kircher are expected to lead the front.
The schedule includes tough league matchups against Concord, Las Lomas, Vacaville, Tamalpais, Ukiah, Rancho Cotate, Vintage, Redwood and Petaluma, each marked as a critical test for the team’s playoff aspirations.
Coach John Antonio, who took over in 2019, believes the combination of experience, conditioning and depth positions the team to finally break through and secure a playoff berth.
