A Milestone for the Longhorns
Casey Borba, a junior standout for the Texas Longhorns, has been selected for the 2026 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp, a prestigious gateway that precedes the World Collegiate Baseball Championship slated for July in Taichung City, Taiwan.
He will be joined by four fellow Longhorns — Sam Cozart, Luke Harrison and Anthony Pack Jr. — as well as Dylan Volantis, forming a contingent that reflects the program’s depth and the coaching staff’s confidence in its talent pipeline.
Borba’s 2026 season was a breakout year, as he smashed 18 home runs and drove in 57 runs, placing him third on the team in both categories and cementing his status as one of the most potent bats in the lineup.
The achievement marks the first time a trio of Longhorns — Borba, Aiden Robbins and Carson Tinney — have each reached the 18‑home‑run milestone in a single season, a testament to the program’s recent offensive resurgence.
Historical Context
Beyond individual statistics, the camp offers Borba a chance to train alongside elite collegiate players from across the nation, sharpening his skills ahead of the international tournament where Team USA will face top competition in a format that blends round‑robin play with knockout stages.
The Texas Longhorns have a storied history of producing players who have represented the United States on the world stage, and the current roster of alumni who have previously participated in the national team reads like a who’s who of college baseball greats.
Names such as Drew Stubbs, Kirk Dressendorfer, Greg Swindell and many others have donned the Team USA uniform over the decades, and the current cohort hopes to add Borba’s name to that distinguished list.
With the championship games scheduled for July 11‑15, the Longhorns’ presence on the national team not only elevates the program’s profile but also inspires younger players back in Texas who aspire to follow a similar path.
