The most recent setback came at Iowa Speedway, where a technical issue led to the disqualification of his Beard Motorsports entry, leaving the No. 62 car absent from the Iowa Corn 350 entry list.
Earlier in the year, Mears secured a part‑time agreement with Garage 66, also known as MBM Motorsports, slated for five races in 2025, with the final three scheduled toward the end of the season.
His debut with the team at the Daytona 500 marked a milestone, breaking a qualifying drought that had persisted since 2020, though the campaign was later curtailed by a withdrawal from the EchoPark Speedway event in Atlanta.
A new chapter with Beard Motorsports
A subsequent move to Beard Motorsports promised a fresh start, but the driver’s progress was hampered by a disqualification in the Duel race at Daytona that stripped him of a guaranteed Talladega Superspeedway slot.
Compounding the difficulties, Mears crashed out at both Pocono Raceway and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, further eroding his points tally.
Looking ahead, the driver is slated to return for the season‑ending Daytona 500 finale, the Talladega playoff race, and the Homestead‑Miami Speedway event in November, while Beard Motorsports has indicated plans to field the No. 62 Chevrolet in three additional races, though not at the upcoming Iowa event.
