Casey Wensley, a standout from Bridgewater‑Raynham Regional High School and a 2023 Taunton Daily Gazette All‑Scholastic, has officially signed with the Los Angeles Angels as an undrafted free agent, forgoing his senior year at Bryant University.
At Bryant, Wensley delivered a breakout junior season that placed him at the top of the America East Conference, batting .319 with 33 RBIs, scoring 57 runs and stealing 30 bases, the most in the league.
A collegiate transition
His versatility shone as he started all 52 games, splitting time between first base and left field, while earning NEWMAC and American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All‑Region 1 Second Team honors and being named to the 2023 Enterprise/Patriot Ledger First Team All‑Scholastic after a walk‑off grand slam against Lincoln‑Sudbury.
Wensley’s high school career was equally impressive, posting a .325 average with three home runs and 20 RBIs in his senior season, and he was recognized as a first‑team all‑scholastic by the Enterprise/Patriot Ledger.
The Angels’ farm system, currently ranked 23rd overall by Baseball America, will welcome Wensley into a pipeline that includes affiliates such as the ACL Angels, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, Tri‑City Dust Devils, Rocket City Trash Pandas and Salt Lake Bees.
