The Cathedral Crusaders capped a spectacular season by defeating Glencoe-Silver Lake 4-0 at Target Field in Minneapolis, securing the Class AA state baseball championship.
A Championship Night at Target Field
The Crusaders struck early, plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning before adding single markers in the second and third frames. Jacob Oliver, leading off the game, scored a run and drove in another, while Owen Fradette contributed a pair of RBIs.
Pitching Precision
Right-hander Jack Hamak delivered six strong innings, surrendering just three hits and striking out five batters. Closer Jake Murphy then sealed the victory with a flawless seventh inning, preserving the shutout.
The triumph marks the tenth state title in Cathedral’s history and ends a 12-year wait for a championship since the back-to-back crowns of 2014 and 2015. The team finished the year with a 23-1 record, the best in program lore.
A Legacy Reborn
Beyond the scoreboard, the victory reflects the steady growth of the program under longtime coach Nate Schmidt, whose vision has turned the Crusaders into a perennial contender. Community support swelled throughout the season, with fans packing the stands at Target Field and celebrating the milestone that will be remembered for generations.
