Catholic Charities and Elmira Pioneers Team Up for Domestic Violence Awareness Baseball Game

July 18 event blends sport and community support to fund vital victim services

A Community Game with a Purpose

On July 18, Catholic Charities of Chemung/Schuyler and the Elmira Pioneers will join forces on the baseball diamond to shine a light on domestic violence, using the excitement of the sport to draw attention to a hidden crisis.

The event is designed as a family‑friendly outing, featuring giveaways, interactive activities and a festive atmosphere that encourages community members to come together and support a shared cause.

Raising Awareness and Funds

All ticket sales and donations will be funneled to the First Step Victim Services Program, a local organization that provides essential assistance to crime victims throughout Chemung and Schuyler counties.

In 2025 the program reported serving nearly 225 individuals, delivering more than 3,000 services, which illustrates both the demand for its resources and the impact of community‑driven support.

A 24‑Hour Lifeline

Beyond the financial contribution, the game spotlights a 24‑hour hotline operated by the program, ensuring that anyone affected by violence can access immediate help and guidance at any time.
