The YMCA of Central Stark County is teaming up with the Cleveland Cavaliers to launch a summer basketball academy on June 12, offering youngsters a chance to learn from the league’s junior staff.
A Community‑Focused Basketball Experience
The two‑site camp will be held at the Alliance Family YMCA and the Eric Snow Family YMCA in Canton, targeting boys and girls between eight and fourteen.
Instruction will be led by the Cleveland Cavaliers Junior Cavs staff and community volunteers, emphasizing skill development, teamwork and fun.
Every participant will receive an official camp jersey and a basketball, reinforcing the Cavaliers’ commitment to youth engagement.
The academy is free for families who qualify under TANF assistance, while general registration carries a $75 fee per camper, and space is limited, prompting early sign‑up.
Michael Brown of the YMCA highlighted the program as a way to build confidence and healthy habits, and interested families can find details and register at www.ymcastark.org.
