CBS Boston announced a new partnership with the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) to deliver weekly live broadcasts of the league’s marquee games, beginning June 27 on WSBK‑TV.
Each Saturday night broadcast will air at 7:00 p.m., preceded by a 30‑minute pre‑game segment titled Inside the Cape League at 6:30 p.m., giving viewers deeper insight into the teams and players.
A Signature Slot for Collegiate Summer Baseball
The agreement marks the first time a local linear television station will serve as the exclusive broadcaster of CCBL games in the Boston market, cementing CBS Boston’s role as the go‑to destination for summer baseball fans.
Johnny Green, regional president and general manager of CBS Boston and CBS New York, said the partnership reflects the network’s commitment to showcasing elite amateur talent to a broad audience.
Andrew Lang, president of the Cape Cod Baseball League, expressed enthusiasm that the league’s “world‑class talent” would now reach households across New England through the CBS platform.
The Cape Cod Baseball League is widely regarded as one of the premier collegiate summer baseball circuits in the United States, featuring top college players who compete with wooden bats to prepare for professional careers.
Notable alumni of the league include Frank Thomas, Carlton Fisk, Thurman Munson, Aaron Judge, Kyle Schwarber and Paul Skenes, many of whom have gone on to Hall‑of‑Fame or star‑making careers in Major League Baseball.
Six games are slated to appear on the schedule through August 1, highlighted by the league’s All‑Star Game on July 18, which will be televised as part of the weekly package.
The broadcasts will not only entertain but also serve as a scouting ground for MLB teams, giving fans a first look at the next generation of baseball stars.
