Opening Inning Fireworks
The 2026 baseball showdown at Dobbins Stadium unfolded as CBU seized a 6-3 win over UC Davis in the first game of a three-game series, a result that underscored the Aggies’ early-season potency.
CBU erupted for four runs in the top of the first, capitalizing on a timely single and a sacrifice bunt that loaded the bases, before extending the lead with two more runs in the fifth inning.
Aggies Rally in the Fourth
UC Davis answered in the bottom of the fourth when Ethan Felix launched a three-run homer, narrowing the gap and sparking a rally that featured his 2-for-4 performance and three RBIs.
Felix’s blast was complemented by solid hitting from Elijah McNeal, who went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, and by Connor Ross, whose RBI single in the fifth drove in Chris Ramirez.
The visitors added insurance in the fifth when Cole Hansen followed with an RBI single to right center, and Eric Ruiz capped the scoring with a two-run homer to left field.
On the mound, Ryne Palmer earned the win after five innings of work, while Grayson Bonanno took the loss for UC Davis. Reliever Zachary Yates recorded his seventh save, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings, and Mason Lerma paired with Taylor Werth for five combined shutout innings.
The series will resume on Thursday, giving UC Davis a chance to rebound while CBU looks to build momentum heading into the next matchup.
