A Season of Distinction
The Centennial Conference this week unveiled its 2026 Scholar-Athlete of the Year cohort, a group of six senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through remarkable achievements in their respective sports while maintaining exemplary academic records.
Among the honorees, Lila Brown of Dickinson College stands out as a defender for the Red Devil women’s soccer team and an environmental science major from Washington, D.C. Brown’s defensive prowess earned her first‑team All‑Centennial honors and a place on the United Soccer Coaches and College Sports Communicators first‑team Scholar‑All‑American list.
Rowan Cassidy from Johns Hopkins University brings a neuroscience background with minors in Spanish and applied mathematics to the spotlight. A four‑time sport Scholar‑Athlete of the Year, Cassidy has been a cornerstone of the Blue Jay 4×800 relay squad that repeatedly cracked the All‑Centennial barrier.
Track and Field Excellence
Carly Priest, a neuroscience major at Ursinus College, combines her Columbus, Ohio roots with elite middle‑distance running. As a two‑time All‑Centennial honoree on the 4×800 relay team, Priest exemplifies the conference’s blend of athletic excellence and scholarly dedication.
Lianne Saussy of Johns Hopkins, pursuing a molecular and cellular biology degree, has amassed seven All‑Centennial accolades across relays and the 400‑meter hurdles. Her All‑American status and relentless work ethic have made her a standout in the league’s track and field events.
Sophia Curtis, a health sciences major at Ursinus, anchors the Bears women’s lacrosse defense from Yardley, Pennsylvania. Recent recognition on the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division III All‑American honorable‑mention team underscores her growing impact.
The 2026 cohort illustrates the conference’s commitment to developing well‑rounded leaders. By rewarding scholarship alongside sport, the Centennial Conference continues to set a benchmark for Division III athletics, proving that academic rigor and athletic ambition can thrive together.
