Central Michigan University unveiled its football road slate for the 2028 season, confirming two marquee matchups against traditional rivals.
The Chippewas will travel to Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines on September 2, then head to Knoxville to meet the Tennessee Volunteers on September 9. The team will open the year with three consecutive away games, beginning with a September 16 contest at Troy.
While the 2028 slate marks the first-ever meeting with Tennessee, Michigan remains a frequent opponent; the two programs have met five times historically, and the upcoming game will be their sixth.
Looking further ahead, the Chippewas are slated to return to Ann Arbor on August 30, 2031, and will open the 2026 season in Albuquerque against New Mexico, a game that will air at 10 p.m. ET on FSN1.
The broader non‑conference plan spans multiple years, with 2027 featuring contests against Monmouth, Michigan State, Old Dominion and Wyoming, while the 2029 schedule includes New Mexico, Rutgers and San Diego State. Future non‑conference opponents also include San Diego State in 2030 and Old Dominion in 2032.
