Central Michigan University Launches Fan Fest Experience at Kelly/Shorts Stadium

A pre‑game celebration featuring BBQ, kids’ activities and spirit performances debuts against Colgate on Saturday home games.

Central Michigan University has unveiled a new Fan Fest experience at Kelly/Shorts Stadium, designed to transform the hours leading up to each home football game into a vibrant pre‑game celebration.

Game‑Day Experience Redefined

The event, which opens three hours before kickoff, will feature a variety of food, family‑friendly activities and live performances that aim to deepen fan engagement before the first snap.

Gold Post BBQ & Beer, operated on the Fabiano Brothers Patio through CMU Dining Services, will serve smoked barbecue and a selection of beers to spectators looking to enjoy a classic tailgate atmosphere.

The Meijer Kids' Zone promises a lively environment for younger fans, offering bounce houses, yard games, coloring stations, face painting and a photo booth to keep children entertained while families prepare for the game.

Spirit groups from across the university, including the Marching Chips marching band and the cheer and dance squads, will make appearances and deliver performances that reinforce school pride and energize the crowd.

Autograph sessions will allow fans to meet student‑athletes from various Central Michigan athletic programs, providing a personal connection that extends beyond the field.

The traditional Spirit Walk, a centerpiece of the festivities, is scheduled to begin two hours and five minutes before kickoff, as the football team makes its way through a cheering crowd of supporters.

Adding to the coverage, the Central Michigan Football Tailgate Show, hosted by Adam Jaksa, will launch two hours and fifteen minutes before kickoff, delivering live pre‑game analysis and commentary until the gates close at noon.

The debut of Fan Fest is set for the Saturday matchup against Colgate, with activities kicking off at 10 a.m., stadium gates opening at 11:30 a.m., and the game itself slated for 1 p.m., giving fans ample time to explore the festivities.

Ticket options, including season passes, single‑game tickets and parking permits, are available through online platforms, Ticket Central or by phone, while the 2026 home schedule lists six contests, five on Saturdays in September and October and a weeknight game in November.
