New Coaches Lead Central York Basketball Teams Into Challenging Season
Central York High School has named Drew Markle as the new head coach of the boys' basketball team and Kevin Glover as the head coach of the girls' program, ushering in a fresh leadership era for the district's basketball squads.
Markle, who previously served as an assistant under Jeff Hoke, says his philosophy centers on accountability and integrity, values he hopes will shape a program that recently reached a state championship game.
Elevating the Girls' Program
Glover, a seasoned coach with eight years at York High School, returns to the area after stints elsewhere, eager to build on the already successful culture of the girls' team.
Both coaches will navigate a demanding Division I schedule within the South Central Athletic Conference, facing traditional powerhouses such as Red Lion and Dallastown.
The upcoming slate includes matchups against Red Lion and Dallastown, both of which are considered powerhouse opponents, adding extra intensity to the season.
Glover will be joined by veteran assistant coach Sean Potts, while Markle inherits a boys' program that has enjoyed recent success, including a state championship run.
The appointments come as the Central York School District, York High School and Dallastown Area School District coordinate resources to support the teams throughout the competitive schedule.
