A youth soccer team from Pennsylvania made headlines recently as the Century FC U17 side captured the U17 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship in Salt Lake City.
A Victory Forged in Unity
The final match pitted Century FC against the Pitt-Greenville Stars, with the Pennsylvania squad edging a 2-1 victory that hinged on a late decisive goal.
Despite an opening loss to Pitt-Greenville, the team rallied to win five straight games over an 11-day stretch in Utah, showing a resilience that defined their tournament run.
Head coach Dave Molisee, a Washington County native and teacher in the Ringgold School District, credited the squad’s cohesion and work ethic for the breakthrough, noting that the players functioned as a single unit.
Cody Cwynar emerged as the tournament’s standout, scoring the game-winning goal and earning MVP honors, while Brendan Seaman was recognized with the Golden Glove award for his performances between the posts.
The championship marks the first national title for a club from the Pennsylvania West Soccer Association, underscoring the growing talent pipeline in the region and celebrating the contributions of local schools such as Peters Township and South Fayette.
