The historic deal brings the first Korean-owned stake in an MLB franchise to the Las Vegas team’s relocation plans.

Chan Ho Park Leads $70 Million Investment in Las Vegas Athletics

Chan Ho Park, the pioneering Korean pitcher who broke into Major League Baseball in the 1990s, has now become a stakeholder in the franchise that will soon call Las Vegas home.

Through the investment vehicle Team61, Park joined forces with actors Ken Jeong and Daniel Dae Kim, contributing $70 million to acquire an ownership stake in the Athletics.

Park will serve as a Senior Advisor to the team’s Managing Partner John Fisher, focusing on player development and strategies to tap the Asian market.

The deal coincides with the Athletics’ plan to relocate to Las Vegas in 2028 and construct a new ballpark, a move that promises a fresh fan base and expanded commercial opportunities.

A New Era for Asian Representation in MLB

Park’s career opened pathways for a generation of Korean talent, including Byung‑Hyun Kim, Shin‑Soo Choo, Hyun‑Jin Ryu, Ha‑Seong Kim and Jung‑Hoo Lee, who have since become fixtures in the league.

Beyond the diamond, Park has contributed to baseball’s growth in his home country, where professional attendance has exceeded 10 million spectators for two consecutive years and Korea ranks second worldwide in per‑capita MLB viewership.

He also founded the Chan Ho Park Scholarship Foundation and has organized the annual Chan Ho Park National Baseball Tournament and Baseball Camp for nearly three decades.
