Chandler Cuthrell, the former Elon University men's basketball standout, has officially signed a professional contract with Karhu Basket in Finland for the 2026-27 season, marking a significant milestone in his basketball journey.
A Record-Setting Legacy at Elon
During his collegiate career at Elon, Cuthrell established himself as one of the most prolific scorers in program history. He set a new NCAA Division I single-season record with 632 points during the 2025-26 season, while also becoming the first Elon player in the Division I era to average more than 19 points per game. His 191 made free throws that season ranked as the most by a Phoenix in 62 years, and he contributed 6.5 rebounds per game alongside his scoring prowess.
Cuthrell's achievements extended beyond statistics. He earned All-Coastal Athletic Association Second Team honors and was recognized as CAA Player of the Week in November 2025, while also securing a spot on the Lou Henson Award early-season watch list. His career-high performance of 32 points and 10 rebounds came against Hampton on February 5, 2026, showcasing his ability to dominate in key moments.
Joining Karhu Basket represents a new chapter for the player, who will now compete in the Korisliiga, Finland's top-tier basketball league. The club, a three-time Finnish champion with its most recent title coming in 2022, is known for its competitive spirit and development of international talent. Cuthrell's move to Europe reflects the growing global appeal of the sport and the opportunities available to standout collegiate players.
