Community Rallying for Charity Softball Event
The third annual Nevada Football vs. The Law All-Stars Charity Softball Game and Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Tournament is set for June 13 at Don Weir Field in Peccole Park, Reno. The day‑long event pits a collection of local law enforcement agencies against each other in a friendly yet competitive tournament, while also showcasing a marquee matchup between the Nevada Football team and the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement “The Law” All‑Stars scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
All proceeds from the event support two nonprofit organizations that assist families of fallen officers and victims of trauma: Northern Nevada Concerns of Police Survivors and the Northern Nevada Trauma Intervention Program. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to make donations at the park.
Beyond the games, the festival-like atmosphere will include raffle prizes, a silent auction, static displays from participating agencies, family‑friendly activities, and a concessions menu provided by Sodexo. A Home Run Derby sponsored by Empire Cat will also be part of the entertainment lineup.
Participating law enforcement entities include the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Nevada State Police, University Police Department – Northern Command, and the Nevada Department of Wildlife. Last year’s competition ended with the law enforcement all‑stars securing a victory, evening the series at one win each.
Organizers say the event is a chance for the community to see the men and women who protect the city in a different light, while raising funds for important support programs. The collaboration highlights the strong ties between the university, local agencies, and civic groups.
