A Strategic Addition
CBS Sports has named Charles Davis as its new lead college football analyst for the Big Ten, positioning him at the forefront of the network’s expanding sports coverage.
Davis, a veteran analyst with deep roots in Big Ten football, joins CBS after stints at the Big Ten Network, FOX Sports, and CBS’s own NFL coverage, bringing a wealth of experience from both college and professional platforms.
He will partner with seasoned voices Brad Nessler and Jenny Dell, forming a three‑person team that will deliver weekly game breakdowns, studio analysis, and on‑site reporting throughout the conference schedule.
Big Ten Outlook
Over a career spanning several decades, Davis has covered marquee moments such as the Bowl Championship Series national championship games and the Big Ten championship, while also serving as an assistant coach, athletics administrator, and analyst for networks including FOX Sports South, TBS, and TNT.
Beyond his broadcasting résumé, Davis offers insight into the conference’s competitive dynamics, noting that the Big Ten’s recent three‑year streak of national titles reflects not only talent acquisition but also sustained investment and player development.
He points to quarterback play as a pivotal factor, highlighting emerging talents at USC and Penn State as potential sleepers, and stresses that while Ohio State, Oregon and Indiana dominate preseason conversations, winning the conference does not guarantee a national championship.
Davis’s appointment underscores CBS’s commitment to blending veteran perspective with fresh analysis as the network prepares to broadcast a record number of Big Ten games this season.
