The University of Washington announced this week that Charles Klask will join its basketball staff as an assistant coach, a move that follows the recent hiring of DeAndre Haynes.
Klask arrives with a quarter‑century of experience in the NBA, having served as an assistant or scout for the Detroit Pistons, the Brooklyn Nets and the Orlando Magic before contributing to the Denver Nuggets' 2023 championship run.
His career has been marked by a cerebral approach to the game, a stint as a scout and video coordinator with the Magic, and stints working under head coaches such as Rick Carlisle, Doc Rivers, Jason Kidd, Stan Van Gundy and Michael Malone.
The Huskies also added Rutgers guard transfer Harun Zrno, one of four international newcomers expected to reshape the roster ahead of the upcoming season.
Alongside Klask and Haynes, the staff will retain holdover assistants Andy Hill, Quincy Pondexter and Abdul Gaddy, who was elevated from a player‑development role after Tony Bland departed.
Championship pedigree meets fresh talent
Klask’s championship pedigree brings a winning culture to a program that has seen several assistants leave Sprinkle’s staff in recent weeks, setting the stage for a blend of veteran insight and emerging talent.
