Charlie Mallett, a senior standout at Hawken School, is gearing up for what many expect to be his most impactful high school football season yet. The rising talent has already amassed 203 career receptions for 2,682 yards and 28 touchdowns over the past two years, numbers that have turned heads across the region.
Last season, Mallett shattered local records, pulling in 115 catches for 1,251 yards and 16 scores, a performance that cemented his status as the Hawks' top receiver and a key offensive weapon.
With the graduation of quarterback Donovan Moorhead and other senior contributors, the team faces a transition, but new signal‑caller Tanner Brandt is stepping in, having absorbed lessons from Moorhead’s playbook and the offensive scheme.
College Recruitment Landscape
Mallett’s ambitions extend beyond the field. He has drawn interest from several collegiate programs, including the University of Akron, Bucknell University and Dartmouth College, and he is currently attending a summer camp at Illinois State University where a scholarship offer could materialize.
Although he once balanced football with basketball and track, Mallett recently decided to concentrate exclusively on the sport, citing a clearer talent trajectory and the prospect of playing at the next level.
A Senior Captain's Vision
As captain for his senior year, Mallett is poised to guide a young squad through the challenges of rebuilding, while also showcasing his abilities to college scouts. The combination of his experience, work ethic and the support of his coaching staff creates a narrative that could define the next chapter of Hawken football.
Teammates and coaches alike anticipate that his leadership will be pivotal as the Hawks aim to improve on last year’s 8‑3 record, which ended with a first‑round playoff loss in Division III, Region 9.
