A New Chapter for the Nittany Lions
Charlie Michaud, a 19‑year‑old defenseman from Denver, Colorado, announced his commitment to Penn State’s men’s hockey program, bringing a blend of size, skill and proven playoff pedigree to the Nittany Lions.
Standing at 6‑foot‑0 and weighing 195 pounds, Michaud combines physical presence with offensive upside. During his recent WHL season with the Penticton Vees, he logged 15 assists in 35 games and contributed five points in 15 playoff contests, helping the club capture its first-ever Western Conference Final series win.
Michaud’s junior career includes stints with the Madison Capitals of the USHL, where he tallied 27 assists over 61 games, and earlier time with Miami (Ohio) in the NCAA, giving him a diverse development background.
The defenseman’s commitment underscores Penn State’s continued push to attract top talent from both Canadian junior leagues and U.S. college pathways, positioning the program for a competitive future in the Big Ten.
