Charlotte O'Keefe, a senior forward for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley women's basketball team, has been honored as the Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year for the 2025‑26 season, a testament to her dominance on the court and her scholarly achievements.
A milestone season
Her impact transcended statistics. O'Keefe became the first player in UTRGV history to eclipse both 1,000 career points and 1,000 rebounds, a milestone that underscores her all‑around prowess. She topped the conference in six different categories and earned the SLC Player of the Week honor three times, highlighting her consistency throughout the campaign.
The accolades extended beyond O'Keefe. Joining her on the All‑Academic Team were teammates Jalayah Ingram, Gianna Angiolet, Madison Huhn and Erin Maguire, each balancing rigorous academics with competitive play. Ingram was named SLC Newcomer of the Year and set a program record with 193 free throws, while Angiolet posted a 7.0‑point average and recorded her first career double‑double. Huhn contributed in 34 appearances, and Maguire added 8.2 points per game with a team‑high 3.15 assists.
The recognition reflects a broader trend of growth for UTRGV basketball, a program that continues to attract talent and scholarly distinction within the Southland Conference.
