Chase Branham, a 6‑foot‑5 guard in the class of 2027, has officially committed to Indiana University, bringing a highly anticipated addition to the Hoosiers’ roster. The pledge comes after a recruiting journey that highlighted his versatility, work ethic, and a clear vision of reaching the NBA.
A Versatile Guard with NBA Dreams
Branham’s high school career at Logan‑Rogersville High in Missouri culminated in a state championship—the first for the program since 1982—while he posted averages of 21.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.2 steals per game as a junior. His performance at the Under Armour Next event, where he scored 15 points in a tightly contested game, further cemented his reputation as a clutch performer.
Growing up watching NBA guards such as Stephen Curry, Tyler Herro, Devin Booker, Jared McCain and Austin Reaves, Branham has modeled his game on their blend of shooting, playmaking and defensive intensity. He cites their ability to impact games in multiple ways as a blueprint for his own development.
Choosing Indiana
The recruitment sweep included offers from Iowa, Purdue, Tennessee, Kansas State, Missouri, Creighton and Austin Peay, but the decision ultimately narrowed to Indiana and a few other suitors. Conversations with coach Darian DeVries proved pivotal, as the coach outlined a role that would allow Branham to operate both as a scorer and a facilitator.
DeVries’ relationship with Branham, built over multiple recruiting visits, gave the guard a sense of belonging that other programs could not match. The prospect of contributing to a resurgence of Indiana basketball, with the ultimate goal of capturing a national championship, resonated deeply with the young prospect.
