The Cheboygan Chiefs are gearing up for the 2026 football season after finishing 2025 with a 3‑6 record, aiming to climb back into contention in the Northern Shores Conference.
Practice is slated to begin on August 10, marking the first step toward rebuilding a squad that lost several key contributors to graduation and transfer.
Roster Changes and Coaching Perspective
Head coach Bill Nesbitt confirmed that the roster will be smaller this year, noting the departure of running back Killian Miller to Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard and the loss of two linemen, Troy Wichlacz and Mark Munger, to the next level.
Despite the attrition, the coaching staff sees reason for optimism. Senior quarterback Schley Nolan is expected to anchor the offense, while senior two‑way player Hunter Meldrum could emerge as a breakout candidate on both sides of the ball.
Emerging Talent
Junior standouts Chazz Andrews, Liam Fradette and Wyatt Wiltfong are slated to receive expanded roles, giving the team depth at skill positions and along the line.
The Chiefs will also benefit from the experience of players such as Landon Gahn, Daniel Harke, Jerzi Mix and Mason Johnson, who are expected to contribute across the schedule.
Season Outlook
With the season opener on the horizon, the Chiefs hope to translate early practice intensity into wins that restore the program’s competitive edge in the conference.
