Chinese Taipei has unveiled its preliminary squad for the upcoming Asian Games baseball competition, set to run from September 21 to 27 in Japan. The roster blends experience from the 2026 World Baseball Classic with a mix of professional and amateur talent.

Among the highlighted arms are Ruei-Yang Gu Lin of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, left-hander Yan-Cheng Wang of the Hanwha Eagles, and prospect Wen-Hui Pan, a reliever expected to anchor the bullpen for the Philadelphia Phillies. Each player brings a distinct skill set, but participation will hinge on securing the necessary clearance.
Outfielder Chen-Wei Chen, the sole CPBL representative who also featured in the World Baseball Classic, adds depth to the outfield, while Jo-Hsi Hsu, the team’s ace from the Classic, will be absent due to back surgery. Tsung-Che Cheng, the only active MLB player on the list, remains unlikely to join despite his Boston Red Sox affiliation.
Group Stage Outlook
The squad is placed in Group B alongside South Korea, Thailand, and Hong Kong, with opening matches scheduled for September 21 against South Korea, followed by contests against Thailand and Hong Kong. The top two nations from each pool will advance to a super round on September 25-26, culminating in the gold‑medal and bronze‑medal games on September 27.
