A Sudden Departure
Chris Carbin, a freshman defensive lineman who had been part of Florida State's 2026 recruiting class, is no longer with the Seminoles.
He had originally committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets before flipping his pledge to the Seminoles in December, only to see his college career cut short after a standout senior season at Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia.
During that senior year he recorded 39 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two pass breakups and a forced fumble, positioning him as the No. 731 overall player and the No. 77 edge rusher in the 247Sports composite rankings.
His exit leaves a vacancy in a defensive line that already welcomed ten new linemen for the upcoming season, a group that includes several highly touted prospects.
The situation reflects the increasingly fluid nature of college football recruiting, where signed commitments can be reversed, and it highlights the competitive pressures faced by programs such as Florida State as they assemble their rosters.
