The Arkansas Razorbacks have added a new arm to their roster, as right‑handed pitcher Chris Diaz announced his commitment to the program earlier this week.
A Talented Right‑Handed Arm
Diaz, a junior at Florida Gulf Coast University, brings a fastball that consistently sits between 91 and 93 miles per hour, complemented by a mid‑80s slider, a sharp curveball and a reliable changeup. His diverse arsenal has helped him post a 3.98 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP this season, while striking out 74 batters against just 26 walks in 72 1/3 innings.
Baseball America currently ranks him as the 379th overall prospect for the upcoming MLB Draft and places him at No. 18 among the top transfer candidates for the 2025 class.
A Deepening Pitching Rotation
The commitment marks the eighth pitcher to join the Razorbacks' transfer class, a group that also includes several position players and other arms. With Diaz joining the likes of Evan Dempsey, who was recently named the ASUN Pitcher of the Year, Arkansas is shaping a rotation that could rival the depth of its recent championship teams.
Coach Brad Bohannon and the coaching staff view Diaz as a key piece in their strategy to maintain competitiveness in the SEC, especially as the program looks to build on a transfer class that 64Analytics has already crowned the nation’s best.
The move also underscores the growing appeal of Arkansas among elite prospects, many of whom are drawn by the school's recent on‑field success and the promise of a strong developmental environment.
