Chris Johnson, a senior guard, has officially joined the Oregon State Beavers men's basketball team, bringing a blend of size, toughness and basketball IQ to the program.
After three seasons at UCF, where he shot 43.5 percent from the floor and 33.7 percent from three‑point range, Johnson transferred to Oregon State following a junior campaign that included a season‑high 17‑point performance against Vanderbilt.
Coach Justin Joyner praised the newcomer, highlighting his experience across the Big 12 and NCAA Tournament as a valuable asset for the Beavers' push in the upcoming season.
The addition of Johnson is expected to bolster the team's depth, providing a veteran presence that can create scoring opportunities and facilitate playmaking.
A Transfer with Proven Scoring Prowess
During his junior year at UCF, Johnson recorded double‑digit scoring in seven games, including a 17‑point outing that showcased his ability to perform under pressure.
Prior to his UCF stint, he spent a season at Stephen F. Austin and began his collegiate career at Texas, where he appeared in 17 games and contributed a season‑high five points against Delaware State.
He also honed his game at Montverde Academy in Florida, averaging 19.5 points per game as a junior at Fort Bend Elkins High School.
