A Commitment Forged in Adversity
Chrissy Jacklinski, a standout senior at Scranton High School, announced her commitment to Lafayette College, where she will join the women's basketball program and pursue an economics degree.
The decision comes after a meniscus injury curtailed her summer league play, forcing her to undergo surgery and focus on rehabilitation before the start of the academic year.
Jacklinski said the blend of academic rigor, a supportive coaching staff, and the college's close proximity to her home in Pennsylvania made Lafayette the clear choice over institutions such as The College of the Holy Cross, the University of New Hampshire and Sacramento State.
She highlighted the campus atmosphere and the opportunity to work with the coaching staff as decisive factors, noting that the proximity allowed her to maintain family ties while transitioning to college life.
Road to Recovery
Despite the setback, Jacklinski is targeting a full recovery by August or September, aiming to return to the court stronger and more prepared for the rigors of Division I basketball.
Her preparation will include a focused regimen to rebuild strength and sharpen skills, ensuring she enters college ready to contribute immediately.
The commitment marks the second recent pledge from a District 2 player to Lafayette, underscoring the region's growing pipeline of talent feeding into the college's program.
Statistically, Jacklinski averaged 18.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists this season, reaching the 1,000‑point milestone and earning MVP honors at the Lynett Memorial Girls Tournament.
