A Promising Start
The Christian County Tigers and Lady Tigers stepped onto the fields of Lexington this weekend for their first official appearance at the Bluegrass State Games, a multi‑sport showcase that draws teams from across Kentucky.
The Lady Tigers quickly asserted their presence, securing a 3‑0 win over Letcher County. Goals from Aaliyah Bell, Kaydon Coats and Carliah Hobson highlighted a balanced attack that moved the ball with purpose and precision.
The Tigers, meanwhile, shared the points with Somerset in a 1‑1 draw. Erick Hernandez found the net and Joseph Lopez supplied the assist that set up the equaliser, underscoring the team’s resilience and chemistry.
Both squads have a packed schedule ahead. The Lady Tigers are slated to meet Boone County and Louisville Eastern on Saturday, while the Tigers will face Campbell County and George Rogers Clark later that same day.
University Heights Academy’s other programs are also in action. The Lady Blazers, defending Region 2 champions, are scheduled to take on Estill County and Mason County on Saturday before a Sunday showdown with Louisville Male.
The Blazers, fresh from their regional triumph, are also set to contest matches against Cooper and Franklin County on Saturday, rounding out a busy weekend for the academy’s teams.
