Christian Mathews has been named the new head baseball coach for the Dora Falcons, a role that will see him oversee the program’s strategy, player development and game preparation within the Dora R‑III School District.
Mathews brings eight years of combined coaching and teaching experience, having previously worked at Plato, Cabool and Newburg before joining the Falcons, and he was a multi‑sport athlete at Central Methodist University from 2010 to 2014, playing both football and baseball.
A Coach with an Artistic Vision
In addition to his coaching duties, Mathews will teach art at the school, a combination he says reflects his belief in creativity, discipline and expression on and off the field.
His coaching philosophy is built around four pillars — Attitude, Approach, Intensity and Toughness — principles he plans to weave into daily practice and team culture.
Mathews intends to study the traditions of Dora baseball, learn the expectations of players, families and alumni, and use that knowledge to strengthen relationships across the community.
By blending artistic instruction with athletic development, he hopes to foster a sense of belonging and shared purpose that extends beyond the diamond.
