Christopher Bell captured his first NASCAR Cup Series postseason win Saturday at Darlington Raceway, clinching the Cook Out Southern 500 in a dramatic finish that saw him pass Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin in the closing laps.
A Strong Start to the Postseason
With fewer than 15 laps remaining, Bell seized the lead and held it steady despite a yellow‑flag period with 30 laps to go that triggered pit stops and shuffled the top three positions, reshaping the battle for the win.
Stage results also highlighted Tyler Reddick’s early dominance, as he led the first stage on lap 94 before Bell reclaimed the forefront, and Bell later secured stage two leadership after lap 216, a position he maintained to the finish.
After the restart, Larson briefly led, but Bell surged past him in the final 20 laps, crossing the line ahead of Hamlin and Larson to claim the victory.
The win propelled Bell to second place on the NASCAR Chase leaderboard, now 12 points behind Denny Hamlin, and he said the triumph gives him confidence heading into the 2027 championship campaign.
