Chuck Jefferson Takes the Helm of Canal Winchester Boys Basketball

Former Walnut Ridge Coach Brings Championship Pedigree to Revitalize the Program

A New Chapter for Canal Winchester Basketball

Chuck Jefferson has been named the new boys basketball coach at Canal Winchester, bringing with him a winning tradition that has defined his eight‑year tenure at Walnut Ridge.

During his time at Walnut Ridge, Jefferson guided the Scots to a league championship in 2020 and added a district title to his résumé, finishing with a 15‑10 record this past winter and a career record of 115‑63.

He succeeds Zach Olson, who steered the Canal Winchester program for six seasons, and takes over a team that posted an 8‑15 overall record the previous year.

Jefferson expressed excitement about the new opportunity, citing the strong support he has received from both the community and the school administration as a key factor in his decision.

A 2003 graduate of Walnut Ridge, Jefferson played his college ball at Urbana and was an assistant under Jason Bates at Pickerington North for four seasons before returning to head coaching.

He also helped end a 49‑year City League title drought for the Scots in 2020 and believes the competition level in the Ohio Capital Conference is comparable to that of the City League.

With the backing of his new administration and a motivated roster, Jefferson hopes to translate his proven formula into quick success for Canal Winchester.
