The 2026 CIAC girls soccer season is set to begin in early September, bringing with it a fresh slate of competition and the return of last year’s title‑winning programs.
Defending Champions Return
Greenwich, Masuk, Foran and Morgan each captured a state championship in 2025 and will enter the new campaign with the same ambition, staying in the divisions where they first earned their crowns.
Division Structure
Class LL features 40 programs, all with enrollments of at least 604 girls, while Class L contains 38 teams with enrollments ranging from 365 to 603, Class M also fields 38 squads with 261‑364 students, and Class S boasts 45 teams limited to 260 participants.
Season Timeline
The regular season will commence on September 8 and wrap up on November 2, giving each program a compact but intense schedule to jockey for position.
Tournament Outlook
The CIAC tournament is slated to start on November 4 and conclude on November 21‑22, offering a concentrated finale that will determine the ultimate state champions.
With the landscape of enrollment numbers and defending champions established, coaches and players alike are already mapping out strategies to maintain or improve upon last year’s results.
