The University of Cincinnati men's basketball program announced this week that it has formally ended its affiliation with Jizzle James, citing his unauthorized use of the school's name, logos and promotional content.
James, who logged 95 appearances for the Bearcats between 2023 and 2026 and was considered a top recruit during Wes Miller’s tenure, had been reinstated midway through the 2025‑26 campaign after an earlier summer dismissal.
In a statement released by the university, administrators prohibited James from using the university’s branding or any likeness associated with the team, and barred him from publishing or promoting any social‑media content that suggests a return to the program.
James responded to the request with a series of offensive remarks, insisting that he already markets his own merchandise and does not require the university’s endorsement.
Roster reshaping
The Bearcats have made it clear they will not welcome James back for the upcoming season, and have already added former Bowling Green standout Javontae Campbell to the roster as they work to finalize the squad. With MJ Collins still awaiting eligibility approval, the program is focused on building a competitive lineup for the next year, leaving James to pursue his own path outside the Cincinnati system.
