The upcoming FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket is set to showcase a new generation of talent, and two names dominate the conversation: Germany’s Clara Bielefeld and Portugal’s Clara Silva.
Bielefeld will wear the German jersey in Division A, which is being staged in Lithuania, while Silva will fly the Portuguese flag in Division B, hosted in Bulgaria.
A Dual Challenge Across Europe
Both players carry impressive résumés. Bielefeld made history as the youngest ever to debut for Germany’s senior national team at just 17, and she recently led the German U18 side to a silver medal in Division B.
Silva, already a defensive stalwart, averaged 23 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup, earning a place on the All‑Tournament team and the Best Defensive Player award.
Their performances have been reflected in domestic league play as well, with Bielefeld posting 10.9 rebounds, 8.9 points, 5.3 assists, 2.7 blocks and 2.4 steals across 30 games in the 2022 season, while Silva contributed nine points, seven rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in the 2025‑26 season.
Path to Promotion and Prestige
The tournament format awards promotion to Division A for the finalists and a third‑place playoff winner, meaning each game carries weight for future competitions, including the 2027 EuroBasket.
Adding another layer of excitement, Germany will host the senior Women's Basketball World Cup from September 4‑13 in Berlin, a event that could further spotlight the rising stars from the U20 ranks.
