Former Tennessee quarterback Casey Clausen is bringing his passion for football to a new frontier, launching girls flag football and boys 7‑on‑7 leagues across Tennessee.
The programs, open to children from second through eighth grade, will run for a five‑week season in four cities — Knoxville, Chattanooga, Murfreesboro and Nashville — offering a structured pathway for young athletes.
All three of Clausen’s brothers — Jimmy and Rick — are supporting the effort, leveraging their network of former Volunteers teammates and local school partnerships to secure fields and officials.
A Flag Football Initiative Spanning the Volunteer State
The initiative was sparked by the family’s own experience watching their daughters compete, as well as the rising tide of elite recruits choosing Tennessee as a football destination.
With women’s flag football set to debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics and the NCAA recently adding the sport to its Emerging Sports for Women program, the leagues aim to give girls a head start before the competition goes global.
Organizers hope the model will spread to California and beyond, providing scholarship opportunities and a clear route to college scholarships for standout high school players.
