Clay Greene Takes the Helm of Collierville Baseball
Collierville baseball announced this week that Clay Greene, a 51‑year‑old coach with deep ties to the region, has been appointed head coach of the program. Greene spent the last two years as an assistant at Collierville before stepping into the top role, bringing with him a résumé that includes stints with the Memphis Tigers, the University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State, where he helped guide teams to the 2005 College World Series.
The hiring follows the dismissal of Jeff Munier on June 29, a move that cleared the path for Greene’s promotion. Athletic director Jeff Brown cited the need for a fresh direction after a season that fell short of expectations, and Greene’s familiarity with the roster was highlighted as a key factor.
Greene’s return to Collierville is being welcomed by players and alumni alike, who see his experience and local connections as a stabilizing force. “I’m excited to build on the foundation we’ve laid and push the program to new heights,” Greene said in a statement released to the press.
