Cle Elum’s Track Trio Dominates 2B State Meet

Glondo, Wallick, and Nicholls combine for eight medals, personal bests, and future collegiate commitments

A Trio That Redefined Cle Elum's Track Legacy

At the recent 2B state track and field championships, Cle Elum’s girls’ team secured a runner‑up finish, a result powered by the extraordinary performances of Gracie Glondo, Jadison Wallick and Nellie Nicholls, who together accounted for eight of the team’s 58 points.

Glondo opened the competition with a personal‑best triple jump of 35 feet, 7.5 inches, while Wallick improved her shot put to 35‑11.75 and placed second in that event. Nicholls captured the 400‑meter title and also anchored a second‑place 4×400 relay squad, contributing to the trio’s medal haul.

Beyond the track, the three athletes have distinguished themselves in soccer and basketball, earning All‑EWAC honors in soccer, helping Cle Elum win a state basketball championship in March, and recording 15 shutouts on the soccer defense. Nicholls, a sophomore, already reached 1,000 career points on the basketball court.

Their ambitions now turn to the next level. Glondo has committed to the University of Mary on a throws scholarship, Wallick plans to double major in aviation and business at Montana State, and Nicholls is targeting a Division I basketball scholarship while competing on the AAU circuit. Cara Coleman will lend her experience to support Nicholls next season.

Coach Matt Whitmire praised the group’s dedication, noting that their work ethic has set a benchmark for younger teammates and helped elevate the program’s profile across the state.
