The Clear Lake Lions concluded their 2026 campaign with a 6‑8 defeat to the Boone Toreadors on July 10, ending a season that finished at 16‑13‑1.
Graduating seniors Hudson Carney, Luke Fuhrman and Tanner Nelson left the program with a reputation for leadership, a point Coach Noah Krabbe highlighted as the foundation for future growth.
The contest opened with a two‑run homer from Fuhrman that put Clear Lake ahead early, but the Toreadors responded swiftly and seized the lead.
Starter Jaxson Anderson ran into trouble in the first inning, and relief appearances by Nick Haugland and Ben Vaske kept the Lions’ bats alive, while Hudson Carney was summoned to pitch after Boone loaded the bases.
Boone’s Tyce Carlson and Noah Gorman drove in runs that tied the game and then put the visitors ahead, and a late rally in the seventh fell just short of a comeback.
A Promising Outlook
Despite the loss, Coach Krabbe expressed confidence that the returning young core will build on the experience and continue the program’s upward trajectory.
