A Recruiting Surge in the Palmetto State
Clemson’s football program received a major boost this week as four-star wide receiver Jamarrin Simmons announced his commitment to the Tigers. The pledge came on Wednesday, marking the second high-profile addition to the 2027 class after four-star running back Gary Walker pledged earlier in the day.
Simmons, ranked No. 61 overall and No. 10 among receivers in the 2027 national class by 247Sports, chose the ACC powerhouse over Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Auburn Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers. His decision follows an impressive junior season in which he amassed 59 receptions for 932 yards and 14 touchdowns, and also contributed 120 yards and a score on the ground.
The commitment makes Simmons the first receiver in the 2027 class to earn an offer from Clemson after a standout performance at a summer camp, and it positions him as the second receiver in the Tigers’ emerging wide‑out group alongside four-star recruit Trey Wimbley.
Clemson’s coaching staff celebrated the news as a testament to the program’s growing influence on the recruiting trail. The Tigers now have nine pledges in the 2027 class, a cohort that includes Jamarrin Simmons, Trey Wimbley, Gary Walker and safety Jarrell Chandler, all of whom have signaled strong intent to develop under the school’s offensive scheme.
Fans and analysts alike view the influx of talent as a catalyst for a revitalized offense in the coming years. With the new commitments, Clemson aims to maintain its competitive edge in the SEC and national rankings, building on a recruiting momentum that began with Walker’s earlier pledge and continued with Simmons’ public declaration.
