A New Era for Clemson Baseball
Clemson University is set to begin its fall‑training camp on September 18 at the historic Doug Kingsmore Stadium, marking the first step toward the 2027 baseball season. The Tigers are bringing in a massive influx of talent, with 19 new players set to join the roster.
The incoming class comprises 11 high‑school graduates, a junior‑college transfer and seven athletes who have transferred from other NCAA programs. This mix reflects a strategic effort to patch gaps left by recent departures and to deepen overall squad depth.
Key Transfer Additions
Among the most anticipated arrivals are Troy Sudbrook from Toledo and Jamie Daly from Davidson. Both are lauded as among the best at their positions, with Sudbrook ranked No. 2 overall among transfers and the top third‑baseman in the country by D1Baseball, while Daly holds the No. 3 spot among center‑fielders nationally.
Freshmen and Draft Prospects
The roster also features Isaac Cadena, a catcher from Southern California who sits at No. 6 among catcher transfers and is rated No. 45 overall among all transfers. Adding to the excitement, four of the signees—Ethan Offing, Chase Kiker, Louis Hernandez Jr. and Jaxon Matthews—were placed in the top‑150 freshmen nationally by D1Baseball.
Offing, Kiker and Hernandez have also caught the eye of professional scouts; Offing was drafted in the 18th round by the Boston Red Sox, while Kiker, Hernandez and Matthews appeared on Perfect Game’s list of top‑500 prospects for the 2026 MLB draft. Their presence underscores the program’s growing appeal to elite amateur talent.
Coach Erik Bakich, now in his second season at the helm, will guide the newcomers through an intensive training regimen that culminates in the first official games of the fall.
